Give 2 doses at least 4 wks apart. Only 1 dose needed if child has received any of the following:

⁴ Offer vaccine prior to onset of influenza circulation in community, or soon after vaccine is available (by October, if possible), and continue to offer it as long as influenza viruses are circulating. <br><br>⁵ LAIV contraindications: Children aged 2-17 yo on aspirin tx; hx of allergic rxn to influenza vaccine; immunocompromise; hx of egg allergy; children aged 2-4 yo w/ hx of asthma or wheezing; pts who have taken influenza antiviral meds w/in past 48 h; caregivers of severely immunocompromised pts (or should avoid contact w/ such pts for 7 days).
<br><br>⁶ LAIV precautions: Mod to severe illness w/ or w/o fever; hx of GBS w/in 6 wks of receipt of influenza vaccine; persons w/ asthma at any age; pts w/ other chronic conditions such as pulmonary, CV (not isolated HTN), renal, hepatic, neurologic, hematologic, or metabolic disorders (eg, DM).
<br><br>⁷ IIV contraindications: Severe allergic rxn to any vaccine component (incl. egg) or after previous dose of any influenza vaccine.
<br><br>⁸ IIV precautions: Mod to severe illness w/ or w/o fever, hx of GBS w/in 6 wks of receipt of influenza vaccine.
