This NIH/NIDDK 4-pg handout defines GER in children and adolescents, describes common sx, how GER is diagnosed and the common tests that are used such as an upper GI series X-ray, an endoscopy, and an esophageal pH probe. Specific medications used to treat GER and practical dietary changes for reducing symptoms are also included.
